You Will Have Less Options The Higher You Go

A concept that you do not really understand until you experience it is that the more successful you are, the more limited you become in all areas of life.

This includes things like what you work on, who you date, how you spend your time, how you spend your money, where you go on vacation, who you hire, and quite literally, every single part of life.

Before you experience this for yourself, it can be difficult to understand.

An example of this, especially for the young men reading this is that you want to make as much money as possible to impress women. However, the more money you make, the smaller your “dating pool” becomes. When you become very successful and earn lots of money, you cannot simply date “anyone.” They have to check a lot of different boxes to be acceptable to you.

You have to be able to trust they won’t do something insane to ruin your business. You have to be able to trust they can behave properly at fancy events, banquets, etc. They have to be elegant and sophisticated when around your social circle and business associates. Ideally, you would have to believe they are with you because they like you, not for your money. The list goes on. Instead of expanding your dating pool and having more options as one might think, the opposite becomes true. The higher you go, the more requirements you are, and huge pieces of the overall “dating market” get hacked one by one, until there are very, very, very few options left.

This is the reason that all of the wealthy businesspeople, celebrities and so on, all date the same people. There are simply very few options as you go higher and higher.

The same is true in business. When you are first starting, you may do many different things. Each “level” you ascend in your business, there are fewer and fewer tasks that you would do yourself and fewer and fewer breakthroughs that would help you get to the next level. When you are small, there could be dozens of things that will help you grow. Once you hit a certain level, there are usually only one or two things. This is a double edged sword, as in some ways ,it makes the path forward more clear, but in other ways, it is very restrictive and very boring.

There is no real actionable advice in this story. It is more of a “something you should know” so you are prepared for it and not surprised if you do indeed, climb the ranks in business, wealth, status, dating and more.
