Don't Worry About Getting A Prenup

I probably spend too much time on the Internet, and I know and accept this. When you spend too much time on the Internet, you are naturally going to go down the rabbit hole in a variety of topics.

One of the rabbit holes I went down recently is the rabbit hole of men getting divorced and losing half their stuff, as well as the rabbit whole of hating on “gold diggers.”

This reminded me of a friend I have in real life who is always talking about this kind of stuff. Every time he talks about it, I always think to myself (and occasionally will say), “yea, all these gold diggers are really after you and your $7k per month pre-tax salary bro. You gotta be very careful.”

In addition to reminding me of this friend, it also reminded me of a piece of advice that I got from elder male family members when I was younger that went something like this:

“You should never worry about getting a prenup or getting divorced. You should worry about becoming so skilled, experienced, capable and connected that if some b*tch takes half your stuff, it doesn’t even matter because you will be able to make all the money back and more, no questions asked.”

Whether you agree with this or not, it is certainly an interesting point of view. It is interesting to look through Wikipedia at many of the richest and most powerful men or Earth. The majority of them have been married and divorced three, or four, or even five times. This could be cherry-picking on my end, but it does remind me of what I was told in the paragraph above.

I am not going to tell you what to think, but I think this is very accurate and practical advice. You need to develop skills to such a degree that it doesn’t matter if you get divorced, or lose it all and start over at zero. You will always be able to make money. You need to become so connected and develop such a strong network that you can get anything you need at any time.

If you can achieve those two things, nothing that happens in your business or personal life will truly be “the end of the world.” Coincidentally, this will also make you less needy, more indifferent, and that will make you less likely to get divorced or make bad business decisions too.
