I am currently writing a three-part book series about B2B businesses. The first part has to do with Behavior Change. The second part has to do with Offers and Fulfillment. The third part has to do with Funnels.

I would say that the Behavior Change section is the most important because if you are a useless, excuse filled loser with no skills, a plethora of self-limiting beliefs, and are completely void of knowledge and experience, then the Offers and Fulfillment and Funnel part won’t really do much for you. You wont’ be able to take advantage of them anyways, so the books become useless in a vacuum.

I know, very cheerful.

One of the chapter titles in the Behavior Change book is “No Matter How Hard He Runs, A Donkey Will Never Win The Kentucky Derby.”

Why is this true? Why will a donkey never win the Kentucky Derby? Because it is a race for thoroughbred horses, of course. The donkey is physically incapable of competing. Literally.

Replace “donkey” with “the average person” (maybe even you), and the “Kentucky Derby” with any goal that they are pursuing but have not yet achieved.

Let’s just use an example of a $1 million per year income.

The average person will never be able to achieve this for the same reason a donkey will never win the Kentucky Derby. They just cannot do it. It is just not possible for them in their current state. The donkey does not have the size, strength, stamina, power, demeanor, and ability of a thoroughbred racehorse. It is a fact, not an opinion.

Similarly, the average person does not have the skills, mindset, beliefs, network, business model, time management, and work ethic to earn $1 million. Those who do have these things do earn $1 million per year. They are the thoroughbred racehorses in this analogy.

The good news is that unlike the donkey, who will forever remain the same, a person can “transform” from a metaphorical donkey into a fully fledged thoroughbred horse, and don’t let anyone tell you differently. The caveat is that it is a matter of complete transformations, and most likely multiple transformations. You cannot make “micro improvements” and “optimize” yourself from a donkey to a racehorse. You need to make massive lifestyle changes that affect your body, mind and soul. These happen slowly at first, and then all at once.

If you are ever feeling frustrated and don’t know why you cannot do XYZ, come back to this newsletter, and remember, no matter how hard he runs, a donkey will never win the Kentucky Derby.
