3. Trying to apply guarantees to their main offer

Guarantees are for your intro offer.

Most people don't have one, so they try to apply it to their main offer.

It doesn't work that way. It looks goofy, and does not help at all. It is more likely to hurt with big companies.

4. Only having high-priced, recurring services

This is a function of most people growing through referrals and networking and doing good work.

But if you want to grow, you will need to convert cold traffic and it is very difficult to do this with only recurring offers.

5. Fumbling the first 48 hours of onboarding

Most people make a subconscious decision on how good something is (or isn't) based on the first 48 hours.

If you fumble it, you will not get referrals or repeat business, even if you provide a great result.

6. Focusing on just one client acquisition method

  • Outreach

Almost every client acquisition method falls into one of those categories. You need to do them all, because each one makes the others more effective.

7. Naming your offer something goofy

8. Turning down client acquisition/lead gen efforts because you are "at capacity"

You don't feel the effects of this for 90+ days. The leads you are getting right now are from your efforts 90+ days ago.

9. Trying to make an "irresistible offer" on their main service

Irresistible offers are for your intro offer.

You cannot make your email marketing service Example) that much better than anyone else's.

However, you can make an intro offer that is 100x better than others.

10. Overestimating their sales skills & marketing ability

This is common when building on referrals. Those are the warmest leads possible and as such, people:

  1. Don't even have an offer

  2. Think they are a god level salesperson
